Abstract

ABSTRACT Empirical experience-based, Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa linn) have a special efficacy as anticholesterol. The objectives of this research were to find out whether the effect of ethanolic extracts of rosella flowers, have an effect in increasing HDL cholesterol levels in male rats of wistar strain of hyperlipidemia and to discovering of increased HDL cholesterol effect from the extract on the experiment. This experimental research used 30 male wistar strain white mice divided into 5 groups. The negative control group was feed with 0.5% CMC Na solution and high-lipid meals. The positive control group was feed with 151 mg/kg BW gemfibrozil solution. The three experimental groups were feed orally with ethanol extracts of rosella flowers of 18.9 mg/kg BW, 37.8 mg/kg BW and 75.6 mg/kg BW dosages, respectively, for 14 days. The HDL levels in the subject animals were measured using Precipitation methods for the LDL, VLDL and Chylomicron. The data in the evaluation of HDL cholesterol levels after administration of test preparations and the percentage increase in HDL levels. Data obtained by the HDL cholesterol levels were analyzed by using One Way Anova test and it continued by using Tukey test. The result showed that the ethanolic extracts of rosella flowers dose 18.9 mg/kg BW (p = 0.016), 37.8 mg/kg BW (p = 0.004) and 75.6 mg/kg BW (p = 0.004) can increase levels HDL wistar strain male rats were significantly hyperlipidemia when compared with negative control group. Abstract

ABSTRACT The management of Type II Diabetes Mellitus with prolonged drug therapy might affect the life qualities of patients and lead to Drug Related Problems (DRPs). Several types of DRPs frequently occur and they result in sub-optimum treatment, increased side effects and expensive costs. Objective of this study was to know about the uses of anti-diabetic drugs, prevalence of DRPs, the numbers of DRPs cases and the factors causing DRPs having the potentials to affect the therapeutic effectiveness for Type-II Diabetes Mellitus treated at Semarang Tugurejo Hospitals during the period of 2007-2008. The possible factors that might lead to DRPs were inaccuracy in the drug selection and sub-therapeutic. Non experimental, retrospective and non analytical observational study design was done. The population for this study consisted of 43 Type-II Diabetes Mellitus patients hospitalized in Tugurejo Hospital, Semarang. Sample collected by retrospectively from Hospital’s medical records of the 2007-2008 period in the whole population. The results showed there were 23,3% of the patient experienced DRPs which had the potentials to affect the therapeutic effectiveness for Type-II Diabetes Mellitus. Eleven cases of inaccuracies in selecting the drugs affected the effectiveness of the therapies. These cases of inaccuracies consisted of 5 cases of ineffective drugs, 4 cases of effective but expensive drugs, 2 cases of unnecessary combinations of drugs and one case of sub-therapeutic dosages. Key words : Drug Related Problems (DRPs), diabetes mellitus

Abstract

ABSTRACT Smoked fish of Salem (Scomber australasicus) is kind of processing fish that well known in Indonesia. This study aim to detect presence of plumbum (Pb) and mercury (Hg) on smoked fish of Salem from traditional markets in Semarang. After determined its concentration, plumbum and mercury concentration in smoked fish of Salem were evaluated what were reached permissible limits based on standard of General Director Food and Drug Monitoring No. 03725/B/SK/VII/1989. This study is non-experimental research that analysed by analitycal descriptive method. Sample have been taken by simple random sampling from 9 sellers at three traditional markets in Semarang City that are Johar, Peterongan and Karangayu markets. Variabel which analysed were plumbum and mercury concentrations in smoked fish of Salem. Data were collected by laboratory test with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The results showed that smoked fish of Salem from three biggest traditional market in Semarang contained plumbum and mercury. Plumbum concentration on smoked fish of Salem from Johar market is 0.0633 ± 0.00577 mg/kg, from Peterongan market is 0.0600 mg/kg, and from Karangayu market is 0.0633 ± 0.00577 mg/kg. While mercury concentration on smoked fish of Salem from the three market are <0.01 mg/kg. Plumbum and mercury concentration on smoked fish of Salem from Johar, Peterongan, and Karangayu markets are not significant different. Plumbum and mercury concentration that accumulated on smoked fish of Salem from the three markets are not greater than quality standard of General Director of Food and Drug Monitoring No. 03725/B/SK/VII1989 about maximum restriction of metal pollution in food for fish and it processing result. Key words: smoked fish of Salem, determination, plumbum, mercury

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hospital formulary is a list of drugs selected that appropriate and economically used as a guide in prescriptions in the hospital. Non-compliance resulted in patients getting the drug formulary that is not timely because the drug is not available in the pharmacy department. Evaluation of adherence to the formulary drug card writing is closely related to the rational use of drugs. This study aims to determine the level of adherence to the formulary drugs written in Ungaran Hospital. This research is a non experimental and data were analyzed descriptively and non-analytic by cluster random sampling technique. Results showed that the use of the drug on patient counted 457 kinds comprising 95.7% of drug patents and generic drugs 4.3%. Conformity with the standard drug formulary, 79.6%. The highest conformity of drug use with formularies is the unit of pharyngeal, nose and ear 99.1%. Whereas based on therapeutic class are antiinflammatory therapy antirheumatic 100%. Drug use in hospitalized patients as much as 423 kinds of patent medicine consisting of 99.8% and 0.2% of generic drugs. Conformity with the standard drug formulary, 74.9%. Abstract

ABSTRACT Active compounds in the leaves of sugar apple is believed to lower blood sugar levels, so it can be used as an oral hypoglycemic agent in the treatment of diabetes. The purpose of this research is to prove the hypoglycemic effect of ethanol extract of sugar apple leaves in Wistar male rats. The research was conducted by using oral glucose test in the group of rats who received treatment doses of sugar apple leaves etanolik extract (75.6, 151.2 and 302.4) mg / KgBW and control groups. Test materials were given 30 minutes before loading 2g/KgBB glucose orally. Research data is the blood glucose level every time which is converted into data AUC0-300 and % hypoglycemic effect. Potential hypoglycemic effects (ED50) were measured using probit analysis. Statistical analysis performed using Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test at the level of 95%. In addition, also identified the active compound flavonoid with qualitative chemical analysis method. The results showed that ethanol extract of leaves of sugar apple dose (75.6, 151.2 and 302.4) mg / kg has a hypoglycemic effect on male wistar rats subjected to glucose (P <0.05), with the percentage hipogllikemik effect amounts to (11.05, 23, 01 and 42.793)%. Potency (ED50) etanolik extract sugar apple leaves as hypoglycemic agents amounted to 339 mg / KgBW. In this study, ethanol extract of sugar apple leaves positive active compounds containing flavonoid. Key words: hypoglycemic, sugar apple

Abstract

ABSTRACT Heart failure is a pathological conditions such as abnormal heart function so that the heart can not pump blood to meet the metabolic needs of the tissues. Heart failure patients in general should be given at least four types of treatment that is, ACE inhibitors (angiotensin converting enzyme), diuretics, β- blockers, and digoxin. Providing a variety of drugs can cause drug interactions. This study aimed to verify the incidence of drug interaction in heart failure patients hospitalized in the Regional General Hospital Tugurejo Semarang. The data were collected retrospectively to medical record data in general hospital Tugurejo Semarang. Data were analyzed with descriptive non-analytic methods using Drug Interaction Facts (Tatro 2007) as a reference standard. The results of this research showed that of 90 patients who potential experience drug interactions 63 patients (70%). There are 43 cases (29.05%) of pharmacokinetic interaction, 47 cases (31.76%) of pharmacodynamic interactions and unknown mechanisms of interaction 58 cases (39.19%). Based on the level of significance there are three types of interactions have level of significance 1 (12.5%), there are 5 types of interactions have level of significance 2 (20.83%), and 3 types of interactions have level of significance 3 (12.5%), for level of significance 4 there are 6 types of interactions (25%), and 7 types of interactions with the level of significance 5 (29.17%). Drug interactions that have the highest incidence of occurrence is captopril and acetosal (33 cases), digoxin and captopril (19 cases). Key words : drug interaction, heart failure
